Tab Edward Jackson, Jr. was born in Freeman, VA, to the late Tab E. Jackson Sr. and Ophelia Jackson on December 15, 1951. He took his final trip to be with the Lord on November 1, 2012 at 2:28 P.M. at Southside Regional Hospital, Petersburg, VA.

Tab accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and joined Union Bethel RZUA Church when he settled in Brunswick Co, VA. Tab loved the Lord and was a hard worker in the church. He was a dedicated trustee, sang with The Praisers of Freeman, Virginia. He helped form and sang with the male chorus in Union Bethel church. He was also a member of the Union Bethel Senior Choir. Even when Tab became ill he continued to try to sing with the choirs. Tab loved and greatly cared for all people. He started a seminar in Union Bethel Church for restoration of rights.

Tab’s life led him in many directions. He attended school in Virginia and graduated from City College in New York. In 1976, Tab moved to Petersburg, Virginia, there he worked in the mental health field. He went from there to food services in Emporia and at one time was named manager of the year. He also worked at Envoy Nursing Facility in Lawrenceville until illness caused him to retire earlier this year. He was greatly loved by the nursing staff, co-workers and residents there. When Tab returned to Brunswick County he met and fell in love with his fiancé, Debra Jones. Tab leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved mother Ophelia Jackson; his loving fiancé, Debra Jones; 2 children, Tabetha Taylor (Scott), of Chester, VA., Monique Lane, of Brooklyn, NY,; five grandchildren, One great granddaughter; two brothers, Bradford Jackson of Meridan, Conn., Roland Jackson (Levy) of Maplewood, New Jersey; four sisters, Martha Barksdale (Irving) of Dinwiddie, VA. Wysinger Cooper, Chester, VA, Patricia Ruiz, of Newark, NJ and Adrienne Styles (Darryl) of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; one aunt, Rev. Ina Bell Owens; two uncles Moses Macklin, Freeman, VA. and Richard Jackson; two dearly beloved friends, Andrea White and David Head; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Union Bethel R.Z.U.A. Church. Rev. Delores Webster will be officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
