Mrs. Annie Lorraine Tucker was born to Mrs. Virginia Beasley and the late Haywood Stith on June 3, 1956. She suddenly took her final trip-to be with the Lord-on Sunday morning, December 11, 2011, en route from her work at Boar’s Head Provision of Petersburg, Virginia.
Called “Na-Na” by all the children, Lorraine had a style of her own, a true zest for life and a genuine love for people. She was never too busy or tired to spend time with children, all of whom she loved and regarded as her own.
Lorraine was a member of the Church of the Holy City, Emporia. She attended The public schools of Brunswick County and later received a General Education Diploma. Being no stranger to the idea of work, she studied further, receiving a certification in Nurse’s Assistance. She worked in many capacities over the years, including cook, nurse’s aide and lead inventory specialist. Life led Lorraine in many directions, but she was eventually led back to Brunswick County where she met and married Larry Tucker. She and Larry were “parents” to many; the children knew they could have fun and food at “NaNa’s” house.
Many precious and sweet memories of Lorraine will be forever cherished by her husband, Larry; her mother, Virginia Beasley; two daughters, Tywanda Smith (Jamal) and Degasia Battle; she reared and loved the “apple of her eye”, her grandson, K’hari Tassy; other grandchildren are Jadon Christopher Smith, Joshua Smith and Semaj’ Ferguson. Lorraine’s passing leaves indelible memories with her five sisters, Veronica Jarrell (Thomas), Anna Stith, Mary Jackson (Mac Arthur), Joy Lynn Broady (Randolph) and Alisa Beasley; five brothers, Walter Stith (Earlene), Carlton Stith, Williams Beasley (Renee’), Samuel Beasley and Bryant Beasley; two sisters-in-law, Rev. Carolyn Seward (Laverne) and Wendy Jones (James); three brothers-in-law, Edward (Patricia), Dwayne (Andrea) and Norrice Tucker (Toya); Lorraine will be missed by her aunts, Louise Burwell, Elva Carroll (Nathan), and Daphne Avens; one uncle, Calvin Rawlings (Willie); two god children, Sharita Drewry and Jasmine Boyd; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends will hold memories of Lorraine dear to their hearts.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, December 16, 2011, at 12 noon at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the family cemetery.
