Leroy Parham

Leroy Parham, affectionately known as Roy Lee, departed this life on June 15, 2011 at the Medical College of Virginia, in Richmond, Virginia.

He was born on June 21, 1933 in Brunswick County to the late Nelson and Mary Trusty Parham. At an early age he attended Brunswick County Public School and he joined Wilson Chapel Baptist Church.

Leroy enjoyed cultivating the land, he could take a tiny seed and nourish it into something beautiful. He also enjoyed taking care of his family and grandchildren. Occasionally, he attended church service and when he did he really enjoyed it. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Esther Parham; three sisters, Almeta Stith, Ellen Parham, and Suzie Wilkins and two brothers, John and Willie Parham.

On February 15, 1960, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Martha W. Parham

He leaves to cherish his memories five daughters: Ruby P. Towns of Freeman, VA, Marie P. Jones of Wilson, NC, Vanessa Parham of Wilson, NC, Amy P. Henry of Mt. Rainer, MD, and Martha W. Jones of Richmond, Virginia; two sons: Leroy Parham, Jr. of Washington, DC and Marty Macklin of Freeman, VA; three sons-in-law: Glenn Towns of Freeman, VA, Stanley Jones of Richmond, VA, and Keith Henry of Mt. Rainer, MD; a future son-in-law: Robin Smith of Roanoke, VA; eight grandchildren: Glenn Towns Jr., Kierra Gregory, DeMonte Towns, Shay Jones, Tempest Parham, Rashad Gregory, Andrew Dugger, and Danika Macklin; one great grandchild, Nymuriel Batts, and one great grandchild to be; two sisters: Nettie White of Lawrenceville, VA and Mary Key (Jerry) of Augusta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, one dutiful nephew, Sherman Stith, a close devoted friend, Carus Boone who looked up to him as a second father and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Mr.Parham will be conducted on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at the Wilson Chapel, Lawrenceville, VA; Pastor Alonzo Seward, Officiating; Interement to follow in the Union Bethel RZUA Church Cemetery, Freeman, VA.
